2Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, 5for each one should carry his own load. (Galatians 6:2-5)
In the couples' group last night, as we are discussing about carrying each's others burden, I was thinking of the burdens that Tommy and I had. For all 22+ years, Tommy's burden is the family and the children. His first marriage came to an end after 5 years and leaving two kids (5 and 2 yr. old) with him to care for. When I come into the picture his burdens became mine. It wasn't easy. We have sweet memories with our whole family in church when they were young, family vacations in Disneyland, Yellow Stone Park etc. On the other hand, we have stormy situations with runaway teenagers, and juvenile that always have trouble with the law. We definately cannot go through all these years without God's embracing us.
Now they are adults, working and one with kids of his own. Our burden seem to be lighter, but our hearts are laden seeing that they still are running away from God.
I pray that God will watch over them.
I pray that the Holy Spirit will always lead them away from the wrongs.
I pray that that the Lord will soften their hearts and return to YOU.
Amen.
